With this being the case, the best kind of job for you is usually going to be a part-time job so you still have time to devote to your business. Temporary jobs are a great option as well, since even if they are full-time, they are usually for a short period of time, putting money in your pocket right away. And the best of both worlds, is a part-time temporary job.
So if you are looking for a good part-time temporary job, you are encouraged to be a part of the 2010 US census team. You probably have seen and heard about these jobs and thought to yourself, “are census jobs good?”, and would they be appropriate to your situation? If so, then you’ll be happy to know that they really are! The first good thing about it is getting a decent weekly pay. The census team also offers flexible working hours (which means you can keep working for yourself too) and new hires get paid even when they are still under training. Reimbursements are also honored for authorized mileage and operational expenses. And one of the most important aspects of the job is being a contributor to the community’s success.
There’s a variety of types of census jobs available if you pass the test and get offered a position. Certain requirements of course need to be met. Regarding citizenship, applicant should either be a U.S. citizen, legal permanent resident, or a non-citizen with an appropriate visa who possesses a bilingual skill. Only applicants of majority age (18) are allowed and you must have a valid social security number. Aside from these, a background check will be done as it is necessary since the job concerns government service. Upon hiring, four days will be committed to training with schedules that may range from daytime hours, or evening and weekend hours.
The census test is a 30 minute basic skills exam consisting of 28 multiple choice questions and if you need some census test help, there’s a practice test available that you can use to help give you idea of what to expect. The different parts of this exam are clerical, reading, simple math, interpreting and organizational skills. The exam for the majority of the locations is in English, however some areas where many of the people speak in Spanish, you will also have the opportunity to take the exam in the vernacular.
Clerical skills questions assess the applicant’s capability to alphabetically arrange and organize items. The reading skills section tests comprehension, vocabulary and ability to follow directions. The number skills section covers basic arithmetic, basic numerical concepts, and simple problem solving. Interpreting information and evaluating alternatives test the applicant’s capability to critically determine the best solution in a situation by properly interpreting information.
The 2010 US Census is a good opportunity for everyone who needs a short-term job and wants to help the community. The offered jobs are relatively high paying, and very much helpful to one’s community. And what’s good for the local community’s economy is good for the country!
