Can you earn a living online? If you’re out of work or fed up with your current job you may have considered trying to earn a living online. You can ‘t help seeing all the television ads and internet banners these days that claim you can get rich online. All this exposure and hype about getting rich easy using the internet might have you thinking about giving it a shot.

Making money online isn’t quite as simple as it may seem. These advertisers that often brag about the latest methods on how you can use eBay to sell junk or unused things around the home to make piles of cash, how you can capitalize off of the search engine advertisers like Google, Yahoo and MSN, would have you believe this can be done with little or no work.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Having spent the last few years trying to get a business started online I have learned that not only is it not a simple way to make a living but it’s a whole lot of extra work. Don’t get me wrong it’s highly rewarding way to start making extra money, as there are many things that you can learn that make it an interesting and often exciting way to earn extra cash. I’ve watched over the last two years as my attempts that started out to be less than stellar in the internet marketing world turn around to actually produce decent profits. One of the most important things I’ve learned is that every person that uses the internet is unique. Trying to figure out what will trigger them to come to one of my sites is quite challenging. Unlike many that make extra income online, I find that learning how to predict and utilize peoples surfing habits almost as rewarding as the cash it can generate.

So, yes, while it is possible to make a supplemental income online without killing yourself, if you want to actually create a living on the internet, you need to expect and plan to work very hard at it.
